It's a beach thing.

Well it seemed that redoing the vignettes in the house was long overdue.  So, out came the tubs of summer.  I packed away all the nests and birds of spring but got out the "beach in a box".  We collect stuff every fourth of July to bring back home and savor and remember our family beach trips.  I just felt that displaying a bit of the beach makes us remember all the wonderful times we have at Ft. Fisher.

This faux sand castle was a great find at none other than Lowes Hardware store.  I love it and it is already built.   It is surrounded by lots of sea shells we collect and; some starfish we have bought- unfortunately we have never found any of them.

Here is more of a top view.  The paint by number of the light house I found at a thrift shop for $8.  I am going to paint the frame white but will do that when time allows.  The beach burlap banner my friend Liz made , she even glued some of our shells on it.   The tall chicken wire tower is filled with shells.  Yes I know it is for a plant but as good as I am with plants outside I only kill them inside.

This is my apothecary jar full of memories.  Shells, sand dollars, etc...the stuff we find and bring home every year.

I love the beach - how about you?

  2. I love the beach too- and live near the Atlantic Ocean- and although we live waterfront I don't care for boats (which we have one)...

I swore when I moved here I wasn't going to "beach" the house up in decorating, BUT the water, the sea, the birds they all suck you in to the beauty of it all.

    Your beach things are beautiful.

  4. I love the beach too! Bits and pieces have been popping up around my house too. We have a lake at our campground but go to Plymouth Beach quite often each summer!
