{ Top 12 of 2012 }

Wow what a year.. It was a roller coaster ride personally and business wise.  I have thought through some things and 2013 will definitely be better and less bumpy hopefully.
I have never started Google analytics but after manually going through my posts from this past year it is on board now..haha

Here are the top 12 of 2012.  Starting with number

7.)  Chalkboard paint all over the place    ( guess you all like to see messes.)

( Yes, the post that a nasty neighbor read and then had my local historical commission send me threatening letters that I didn't have permission to build anything..hmmm I think my post was about me "thinking" of things..Stupid Sanford city officials)

And the top dog of 2012 is: (insert drum roll here )

( I made and posted about these trees in 2011 and had so many ask for directions.  Just goes to show that you want pics and the know how.)

2013 will hold many changes for the family, the business and the blog.
Read along and I'll take you on the journey with us.

Happy New Year !!!

{ it's all in a brand }

They say in business it is all in a brand.  I agree with that.
The choosing of a name is not only personal but also the way your audience and customers will identify with you.  I also believe that how you present that brand is just as important.  Since I am a maker of handcrafted items I strove to have all things touched by this hand.
I designed my own business cards and tags, printed them, cut them out, adorned them with extras - all to express me and my aesthetic.

Then real life kicked in.  Yes I was taking so long creating the tags that it became crazy to get items ready to sell.  I had to rethink it all.

So I designed a look that would be similar minus a few of the steps.
Yes, I have them printed now.  Much easier and quicker.  And I don't add anything to them.
NO dimension which is hard for me to accept but it has to be done.

This is how they turned out..they should be here soon.

I will still make handmade ones for conferences and such but this is amazing
for everyday use.

Have you changed something to make life a bit easier on you?

{ Junkin' Treasures}

This was the junk.
Yes those are iron beds.  Piles of iron beds. I didn't need any unfortunately.

This is my man, Mr. Tattered loading up our treasures.

Safety first always.
Can not have all that falling off the back of the truck.

Now what did we get?

A door, some dresser mirrors, a top to a wardrobe that will become an awesome portable cash wrap center, a drop leaf table and these:

This will become an awesome buffet when we are done with it.

a nice bedside table..

another dresser to transform to a North Carolina Beaches dresser,

An amazing old 1850's dresser ..I can't wait to transform it.

So now I have tons of work to do.
Why you ask?
Didn't she say she was done with this business?

Yes I did, but Kristen of Sophia's Decor manipulated me back into business.
She is planning the first (of hopefully many) barn sales for the spring.
And I am helping her organize it and being a vendor.
I can't wait to get it going with her.
This area needs something like this.
So, I'm back in the business after my brief 2 week stint of being out of it :)

What plans do you have for the spring?

from pink to blue...no not a baby story

I was given this pink dresser from a friend.
I will say the girl knows how to paint so it doesn't come off.
I sanded and sanded and sanded and in the end it won.
I was hoping to paint a flag on it in white with natural colored wood..but plans change.
Yep we are shakers and movers here..it is always changing.

before:

after:

Then I decided to just duck it.  Duck Egg blue from Annie that is.  And a bit of dark wax on top.
Much better.

have you refinished something lately?

{ I'm back }

Yes I know.. Don't fall over and faint.  It is a miracle isn't it?  Me back?
It's been forever and for that I apologize.  I will say it's been an on and off again 7 months.  Stress on and creativity off - over and over again :)

But that has changed.
Time to get back to having some fun and sharing it with the land I love- yes blog- land.

Did my last Tattered & Timeless show in Cameron Saturday ..it was a great day for a show.  The weather - wonderful, the shoppers- amazing, the sales- glorious.
Take a look:

We pretty much sold everything.  Which is wonderful.
Some of my long time customers were a bit upset that it is the last show.
I've been doing them for over 5 years and I need a break.
NOT saying that T&T won't be around..just probably in a different capacity.
I've got some items going into a store soon in Southern Pines, NC.
And a friend is working on Raleigh's First Ever Barn Sale in the spring and she has told me I'm doing it no matter what.
So we shall see what happens.

On another note- I am so excited to be attending the Southern Bloggers Conference this weekend.  Wait till you see all those pictures next week.. fun times I'm saying.

Well my bestie- Liz is here from Texas and we have a big day planned tomorrow- yes sir ree
We are off to Depot at Gibson Mills and then swinging by Beth's Olde Tyme Marketplace on the way home .  I'm sure we will be buying lots and have plenty to share.

See you later on- and glad to be back :)

Yee haw Cowboy

It's cow time people.
Or at least it is for my ottoman.

Hubby constructed the simple bases using old spindles we had and some plywood.

I then upholstered them.

Then took outdoor pictures on a great North Carolina Sunny morning.

I couldn't get away with just taking the pictures just as is.
My model, Sophie had to jump in and strike some poses.

Gotta love that girl.
So, what do you think of the ottoman?  Would you put a cow print in your house?

And some more news..I've got a great giveaway coming up on Monday.  Be sure to come on back then to see what you can win.
