Booth is done- kind of, but not really ?

Well the family - hubby and younger kids - and I went down one last time together to finish off the booth.
We got the base board in and the crown, got the chandy lit, got big furniture moved in and then they left for a much deserved McD's break while I finished unpacking the boxes of smalls.
Well ladies I thought I had a lot but dang with 10 foot ceilings it looks as if there is nothing there. We open on the 1st so I need to get my butt in gear this week to take down another load of filler stuff.
You will see that I have nothing on the walls- yet and with those tall walls I definitely need stuff up there.
I hope to get it looking better before the 1st and I welcome any ideas you may have that can help me out.
Remember this is what we started out with:

Then we got it looking like this:

Now it looks like this:  (Remember I wanted to have old piano rolls of music in the rafters- well hubby and I are too dumb to get it looking right)

Here's a shot of the side wall in front of it- the lovely owner, Paige let me use this area too.

Next we have the back corner with the big claw foot coffee table:

Next is the large sideboard I did:

Then is the table for 2 with the chandy sparkling:

And here is a last shot of the front:

As you can see it is lacking in the vertical department and it needs more "stuff".
So, any ideas from you talented ladies out there?
Help.

  1. How about just getting some cheap tulle or other gauzy fabric and weaving it through the grid on you ceiling to bring it down a little, give it a dreamy look and hide the ceiling of the building? It would look more cozy I think.

  3. I just love what you've done to the walls, it looks great! As a friend of mine always told me, stack it high and sell it cheap. Well cheap enough to make a profit of course. I can't wait to see more. You might check out some of the booth displays I've featured for different onces to get ideas. I usually study booth pictures that I've posted of Judy's booth, JHill Designs. She has such a great eye for display but then just about all my friends do!

  5. Your site looks wonderful. I could not figure out what your "booth" was for until I saw the pictures.

  6. I was going to suggest what Green Willow said... some tulle or gauze threaded thru... you could hide & hang in that & hang as low or as high as you would like... giving it a shabby, cozy feel.
It looks great though... good job. NOW SELL, SELL, SELL.
Trusting that it will go well for you.

  7. I love how it's looking! I think it would be kind of cool to hang some pieces of piano rolls on the wall and just let the ends curl up a bit. Here is a link to Theresa McFayden's studio where she has done the same thing... scroll down to about the 4th, 5th, and 6th pictures and you'll see what I mean!

You can probably get lots of other ideas from her as well, I love her studio space!!

  8. It's looking just lovely! I could see some big old chippy shutters leaning here and there. You could improvise by getting some bi-folds and beat 'em up yourself, then sell them as a tattered screen. What about draping some of those lovely burlap flag/penants? Like I won from you :) Criss-crossed in corners maybe.

I also like the idea of the gauzy fabric weaving above. Maybe put some twinkle lights up there too?

I love every single thing you've got in your booth! Don't think you'll have trouble moving your things :)

  9. This looks great, wish I lived near you! I think the ideas others gave you were great but I would also get some sticks and put them in a big vase you could live them natural or spray them white. I also think you could make some art out burlap really easily or bead board. Take a look at my blog and you can see a really simple project I made with beadboard and cheap too! Good luck to you Tammy!

  10. This is wonderful! I think you do need another load of stuff, How about pictures or empty frames on the wall and little hanging shelves, with smalls on them, i sell little shelves every time I hang them on the wall. I just did a post on renting at an antique mall, OMG you will die by how loaded mine is, your space is just sooo big!

    Good luck!

  11. Wow, it looks great. The others have given you some great suggestions. Old windows would fill lots of space. The habitat re-store is a good place to find those and shutters as well. I love the idea of twinkle lights in some gauzy fabric for the ceiling. How about some of the Martha Stewart tissue paper pom-poms. You could hang a few and stack them here an there. They are cheap and easy to make but look really pretty. You could buy some plain canvas totes and dress them up with paint or fabric flowers or both or stencil the name of your booth. Have you seen the coat/hat racks Susie Harris made from old yard sticks- cheap and easy, but really cute.

  13. Tammy- Looks amazing! I'd be your first customer if I lived nearby!

Here's an idea--- Shoot the ladder with white paint! You could hang loads of items, and use the steps as shelves!

    Best of luck! Hugs

  14. Hey there Tammy!
So nice to hear from you. First off and most importantly, I'm glad your Hubby came home safe! :)

Now the shop. It looks great. LOVE what you are filling it with. Vertical space ideas? Hang dried hydrangea, lavender & roses and baskets (and sell those too). Or check out 'The Adventures of Elizabeth' blog - her displays are drop-dead gorgeous! I remember a pic she posted where she attached old book pages together with rings (like small binder rings) that hung from the ceiling - very beautiful. Another idea - hang a few old windows without glass.
Anyway, I think it's coming along beautifully!
I'll try to pop by more often!
    Hugs,
    Zuzu
