My raw booth space

Well I went to the building that will house Carolina Country Peddlers Mall in Lumberton, NC.  The proprietor, Paige was there having the place painted so I went to see where my space would be.  It will be an 8x20 space - bare and raw.  It will be up to hubby and I to make it MINE.  There are a few stipulations - like nothing can be hooked into the floor or to the walls so we have to construct something freestanding.  And since it is me and I am all about the presentation we will do it right.  There is only one time you can make a first impression and get people to like your business so we have to do it right the first time.
Here is the space:

You'll notice that the back wall is paneled and brown (icky) but they are painting it white.  Not that it will matter as our freestanding unit will have walls in it.  The doorway over to the left is a double glass entry door but it will not be used (inspector said it is fine to block it as another one is down the wall.  So, we will block it. I have an outlet available - score I can hang a chandelier - woo hooo.

Here is my will have sides and a back sided with exterior lap siding to represent old - timeworn bead board.  It will have rafters (open of course to allow light in) that I can hang items from.
Any more ideas out there?  Please I could use the help- if you have any pictures that would be wonderful too.

I will be off from blogging for the next couple of days - at least till late Wednesday.  I have to go in for surgery on Monday morning and they are keeping me at the hospital for two days..after that I am to recuperate - which means supervise hubby in the building of my space so we can haul it down there when I feel up to it.

I am excited to start this next phase- my space to create and sell times ahead.

  1. Tammy, how exciting getting ready for your new dream! Hope your surgery goes well, take care.

  2. Good luck! How fun to have that big space to play in.

  3. I can't wait to see how you turn it from brown walls to wonderful space. I think it brings out more creativity when you have to work around the uglies instead of starting with something beautiful. I hope all goes well with the surgery.

  4. I can't wait to see what you do with the space! I hope everything goes well with your surgery and your new adventure. Can you find some old doors to do something with?

  5. Hi there,
It's so exciting to get your own booth. I don't know enough about your's to talk, but I had a terrible experience with mine. I blogged about it. Once the owner took their rent, 15% of sales, 5%/mo. for advertising, and 10% dealer discount, I was making nothing. In less than 3 months I sold almost $900.00 dollars of merchandise and made $75.00 in the end. I lost so many of my favorite pieces. I know it depends on area, traffic, and time of year. I soooooo hope all of these are better for you. You should go read some of my comments.

It's so hard to put into words how you feel about something. I'm very excited for anyone who starts a new adventure. I painted my booth, bought old shutter closet doors to give height. Hung drapes, arranged furniture, then watched what happened. I know some malls are doing great! I thought I'd done the math first.
Good, Good Luck to you!! I'll be watching to see how it goes!
