Well everyone's budget is tight. And I think "thrifty" is the word right now. I have seen so many creative ladies take old clothing and upcycle it to something else. I figured I'd have a go at it.
This is one of about 5 things I got at the thrift shop that was buy one get one free. It is a size 2t jumper. My daughter wears a size 4 so it definitely would now work for her unless I wanted her hiney hanging out. No, that would be a BRATZ doll thing to do and we don't do BRATZ dolls :)
But what if I cut it up to do something else? hmmm wheels turning here. I loved the little Scottie dogs and knew she'd love them since she asks on a daily basis if we can get a puppy. arrrghh another post there.
I grabbed the scissors and cut off the top portion then took the zipper out and sewed it shut on the back.
Next folded over a casing for elastic.
And voila- here is the princess all dressed for school this morning in her new skirt. She loved it just like I thought she would.

That's so cute Tammy! I have a ton of those little jumper dresses that my girls are too big for. I'll have to do that! Good idea!
ReplyDeleteI'm new here (came via Cottage Instincts), but I just had to say that I had a red Scotty dog sweater growing up that I adored! This little skirt brought back sweet memories. :)
ReplyDeleteOkay, I have been hanging drapery rods all week (you know putting screws to nigh on 100 y/o aged wood, sweat running down every crack in your body kind of drapery rod hanging) and I have missed out on so much you have been doing! WOW is all I can say! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Scottie skirt... reminds me of Tess. And the chair you redid for your sister, awesome! My goodness I feel like a slacker in a week to only get drapes hung!! LOL! you are an inspiration!
