Porches porches porches

Hi, I have decided to link up with The CSI Project for this week.  It is for Outdoor Decor.  Be sure to go over there and check out all the other great ideas.
My big thing on our house was that it had to have a front porch - and a big one at that. I also wanted a back screen porch as we have terrible mosquitoes here. Fortunately, we found a historical dream house with both. And I love to decorate them and hang out there with a cup of ice cold lemonade and a pile of magazines. Come visit my porches - hope you like them.

My back screen porch is fave during summer as I can see the kids play and not get eaten alive. I just redid it all this past week to host my son's 18th birthday. It turned out great.
I basically have two ends to the porch..a sitting area and an eating area. And a walk space in the middle to get to the screen door to the yard.
The sitting end is my favorite. We hung curtains- yes they are drop cloths from Lowe's clips at the top. Then we put black shutters on the back wall and placed my beat up - well loved mantle in front of it all. I have old porch pedestals in the corners holding plants and birdhouses. The seating is old 40's patio furniture that I found for a steal with the cushions. The coffee table is made from an old window.
Here is a close up of my wonderful mantle.   LOVE IT.

This is a cabinet saved from the neighborhood trash pile. It is missing a door but who cares. It's back is gone but the green of the house is a nice backdrop. I am having fun fluffing it and finding items to display in there. Pretty good for free huh?

The eating end is fun too. I have an old store sign that went out of business hung high. I also have more drop cloth curtains in the corners that we can pull shut when we don't want to be seen by everyone when we eat.

I hope you enjoyed the tour of my back screen porch. I didn't include any of the front porch as it needs some sprucing up..maybe next time.
This is being linked up to The CSI Project..outdoor decor.

  7. Hi Tammy
Your porch is great and you are so lucky to have it screened. We have problems with mosquitoes here too, so we don't sit on our porch much in the evenings. Thanks for joining my party.

  10. Oh my, I LOVE your porch. It is so inviting, and you found the most wonderful pieces to put there. The mantel is genius, what a great way to anchor the sitting area. I really like the drop cloth curtains. I have a patio that I am thinking about putting some up on the columns, but it isn't screened in, it's open. Thanks for stopping by and your very gracious comments on my post and the info about my birdie topped cloche. I looked at Wisteria and I almost had a heart attack, but boy it really is pretty and the $10 did turn out to be a fabulous price. I look forward to seeing how you use yours and what you put in it. Thanks again, I enjoyed your blog and I signed in as a follower, so I will be back soon. Hugs, Marty

  16. Tammy,
Oh my goodness! Your porch is absolutely dreamy! I love the way you decorate. It looks so cozy, and I would love to read magazines and drink a large coke from McDonald's (that's my favorite!) every evening. I absolutely love older homes, and yours is gorgeous.
