Metamorphisis Monday

Well it is yet another Metamorphisis Monday with Susan over at Between Naps on the Porch.
It is where we show some transformation we have done and then look at all the other wonderful changes that have taken place in blogland. So, once done here head over there and look at all the great things going on. Our transformation is not glamorous or fun. If you have read my blog you'll understand. If not here is a brief history. I bought a huge fridge because it did cool ice and water in the door. It had to be huge as I have 4 kids with 3 being boys- need space. We were planning a minor kitchen remodel- you know- new appliances, repaint cabinets and get new countertops. Well that was the intention but intentions have their own outcomes. The fridge was too big and the door would not swing open all the way so we had to make the entrance doorway to the kitchen wider- it involved taking down over 80 year old walls with plaster and lathing and building a new header board then drywalling it all back in.
Here is the mess that we created:

And here it is all done in drywall and with most of the molding back on. My hubby worked his butt of doing this over the past couple of days. Now, it isn't done but it is a huge change and the fridge is now able to give out crushed ice for my pink lemonade. Ahh all is good.

  1. Wow I am jealous! We have done most of our old 1883 house but not the butlers pantry or kitchen. It all works, but it is ugly, since it was for the help. And it is the only area of the house where the plaster is going to have to be taken down and replaced.

I can't wait to see the finished product!!! :D Jewel

  4. I know this takes a lot of work ! We have been doing one room at a time - although our house is only 21 years old but, needed to be gutted.
I admire your hubbys work ! You will love it when it is all done !

  6. We're almost finished having our home remodeled, so I know what a chore it is putting up with the mess. But look what you ended up with! I see why you're happy!

  7. Hi. Looks great. Our house was built in 1923. We don't have the first clue of how to fix anything in it. Ha. It is a learning process for sure. Can't wait to see more of your home redo. Laura @ the mansion
