I used to buy items that were such a great price then take them back to Northern Texas and wait until my best friend had her bi-yearly yard sale and truck them to central Texas and make a killing selling them at yard sales. Ahhhh the good old days. But since then we have had slim pickings on auctions since moving to NC. They just don't do them as often nor do they have as good of "deals" as WV does.
Anyway, we lost several hours of our life at this auction Saturday that we will never get back. It was not a great sale but it was fun to get back out into the thrill of the hunt.
I did get two items...a piano stool and a sink for our kids bath remodel. The sink was the highlight and it wasn't even in the auction- it was laying in a field near their burn pile. We asked the lady if we could buy it off of her for $25 and she said sure. What a deal as I have looked at them at salvage yards and they fetch about $200+ there.

I spent Sunday shopping with my son. The middle child who needs some one on one time with mom at moments. We spent most of the day shopping for him go figure - skater boy shirts, shorts and books. He LOVES to read and as a mom can't argue with that one. Just wish books weren't so expensive. I can say he does reread them many times so they get their moneys worth I guess.
One thing he did was lock my keys in the car when we were at TJ Homegoods store- oh dang we had to spend a bit of time there waiting for hubby to bring us another set of keys. Got some fun stuff there. I love that store.. I got a wine rack with hooks. It is tin and I am not a wine drinker..so why buy it you ask? Hmmmm I am going to decopauge over the wine labels with either kids names or just numbers and hang it in the mud room..pretty smart huh?

Then on Monday my old fave auction house in VA was having an online auction and I got some goodies at that. The fun part is that now I have to travel up to VA to pick the items up...and shop some more. Going to try to time that with hitting another auction there. We will see. I will post those goodie pictures when I get them.
We also worked a bit on the screen porch but that is another post..
Until next time..I will be very busy now. I have decided to do a blog contest that makes us redo our kitchen in a months time. I figured if I had someone pushing me - a deadline so to speak I'd get off my butt and do it. We'll see how it goes..
Actually sounds like the past days were fun and filled with the thrill of the hunt. I love that sink. I can "see" the beauty that will be uncovered :0)
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who sees a face in the sink? picture That looks like it's talking? :-) Two eyes and an open mouth...a little ghost-like. Caspar the Friendly Sink, if you will.
ReplyDeleteWhat a DEAL on the sink! He's going to be beautiful when you gussy him up. And the decoupage idea for the rack is fab.
Hi there, nice to find your blog :) I just love TJ Maxx/Homegoods too. Great idea to reuse the wine rack :) I love thrifting too!
ReplyDeleteAll the best,
Allison
Home Goods is one of my most favorite stores EVER! It was love at first sight. That's a great idea with the wine rack. My family is all from WV. I have the most wonderful memories of that place. My love of the mountains was birthed there. Aaaah...memory lane. But, enough of that, already. Thank you so much for dropping by my blog and leaving such a sweet comment. I'm gushing!
ReplyDeleteHi! Great deal on that sink!
ReplyDeleteI love the look of having the taps come out of the wall. Our old kichen sink had that but we remodeled and I couldn't find a sink like yours but bigger....too bad.
Post 'after' pics, ok?
