Today my daughter and I went junking. Yes, she is only 4 but she is being trained early so I will have a junking buddy for life :) We hit the school thrift shop and picked up this cheese tray. Yes I know you ask why would you want a cheese tray? Well I will get to that soon.
Then we went to the county habitat restore and I found 2 doors that match the doors in our house - 2 panel doors are hard to find and we need to build a closet in our master bedroom so that was a great score. I also picked up two wooden candle holders. Yes, again I hear - why?
Well I am going to marry the candle holder and the cheese tray, paint them a distressed shabby white and then make it a pedestal and the glass cheese cover will become a cloche for flowers or maybe a birds nest.
Hopefully. I got an extra candle holder as I have a cloche at home with no pedestal so I can make another one.
Then we hit my fave store - Karen's attic. It is a pink building on the side of the road and is way cool... I scored the following items there for a good price. Her store is what I hope to have one day.. ahh dreams. Someday it will happen.

It was a good day, now back to the real world and 4 kids :)
What did you find today?

Tammy-
ReplyDeletethat looks so cute! What great finds. We don't have very many places to go "junkin" here in my town, but if we did I'd be out every week looking! That little table you got is perfect :)

Great idea with the candle holder and cheese tray ~ I'll be watching for a picture of the completed project!
ReplyDeleteWhat would we do without white paint? ;-)
ReplyDeleteYay!! These are my kind of finds. I'd love to go thrifting with you (and your four-year-old, of course. :-) I'm also on the hunt for an old cheese dome to use as a cloche. Good job!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea with the cheese dome and candlestick! It will look great white. Love the last three finds too! Congrats!
