First Post
Well here I go entering the world of blogging. Not sure how it will work out but it gives me a place to put my thoughts and post questions in hopes of someone having an answer.I want to write about everyday life living in an older home. Life with 4 kids and a husband gone sometimes serving his country. About trash to treasure of items that need a little pick me up to shine again. About friends, family and all that goes on in this crazy thing called life.I hope you all join me and hope maybe it will be a fun place to visit once in awhile.I will enjoy getting posts and keeping up with others. Yesterday was one of my two favorite shopping days all year. It is called Cameron Day and takes place in the small town of Cameron, NC. The town is maybe 5 blocks long and one block wide - the historic part of it. And this is where this magical event takes place twice a year - may and October. The home owners rent out booth spaces in their yards, fields and driveways to vendors who are peddling their crafts, antiques or variety of foods. It is an amazing day as the town rarely has more than 10 cars at one time shopping the various antique shops. But on this day more than 20,000 people descend upon the town of maybe 200 and take it by storm. There is pretty much anything you might be looking for. It is not a yard sale agenda but more an antique sale. No booths of mass produced items from China :) No just really good stuff. Furniture, architectural salvage, gardening items, food, etc...it is a fun day to be had by all. I am fortunate that my sister owns a house right on that street so we have front row seats on the front porch of her more than 100 year old cottage to watch the crowd stroll by. It was a great day and I didn't do too bad on buying items either.
I got this wonderful cabinet for a steal - it will become our linen closet once we add shelves to the inside.
I also got this amazing birdhouse with all the architectural elements added on the front. That was my fun for the weekend. What items did you find while out this weekend?
Your blog looks great! I love the cabinet you found for such a good deal. I love anything that I can use as storage. The birdhouse is adorable, too.
